Job Description Summary: Assist physicians with medical procedures in office. Responsible for phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance. Primary Key Performance Areas: Responsible for performing proper quality control procedures before proceeding with patient testing. Perform laboratory blood work. Perform blood draws Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing. Perform technical laboratory procedures in a timely manner with accuracy and precision, meeting the standards of all accrediting and regulating agencies. Prepare blood or bone marrow slides for evaluation. Send outside labs to appropriate facility as dictated by patient's insurance plan. Maintain test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records, and checklists according to all regulatory agencies. Will follow the AON patient I.D. policy and procedure with every patient encounter. Obtain vital signs, height, weight, pain level and PHQ9 depression screening of patient as requested by physician and document in the Onco/EMR system. Place patient in exam room and prepare for physician in a timely manner. Receive lab reports via the telephone, lab system, or fax and document in the patient's chart or Onco/EMR for physician's review. Assist physicians with medical procedures: bone marrows, fine needle aspirate, paracentesis, and pelvic exams. Schedule outside testing, referrals to other physicians and hospital admissions as ordered by physicians, if applicable. Documentation: Thorough documentation in medical record chart of testing/treatment rendered to patients. Prepares encounter form to charge patient for services received in office or initials all steps in process in EMR for electronic superbill. Documents all QC and QA corrective action. Show physician critical blood counts according to guidelines. Obtain all pertinent scan and CDs and prepare for physician's review. Maintain adequate inventory of supplies. Place orders with purchasing as needed. Initiate troubleshooting procedures when instrument malfunction occurs and contact central lab or instrument service company, if necessary. This position is based at Hospice of Washington County in Hagerstown, Maryland, serving patients and families throughout the surrounding community. Under minimal supervision, provides spiritual care to the patient/family to facilitate self-determined life closure, safe and meaningful dying and effective grieving. Service is provided to predominantly adult and geriatric patients. Education: Master's degree in theology, divinity, pastoral ministry or spirituality from an accredited institution; or in some instances, verification of official ordination from a religious institution or denomination if candidate is ordained.; Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), moving toward board certification within 18-24 months of hire. Endorsement from ecclesiastical body or equivalent designation is required. Flexibility with scheduling evenings and weekends. Licensures/Certifications: Certification as a Board-Certified Chaplain (BCC)through one of the following certifying organizations, BCCI/APC, NACC, NAJC either at hire or within 18-24 months of hire. Experience: Experience in hospital Spiritual Support with teaching experience preferred. Skills: Possesses a broad, interfaith theological knowledge base, familiarity with and understanding of the diversity of religious experience across cultures. Provides crisis intervention as necessary; responds to all Code Blue emergencies; assists in helping families remain informed of patient's condition. Documents in EPIC patient and family service provided. Documents pastoral interventions according to established departmental and medical center policies and procedures Provides proactive spiritual support on assigned units, service lines and areas as well as for individual faith tradition. Attends multi-disciplinary rounds whenever possible. Worship or Special Event Services Leader: Provides worship services and administers the Sacraments (when and where appropriate) regularly and on special occasions.
